North American Galvanizing & Coatings Earns Two Safety Awards

Louisville, KY - North American Galvanizing & Coatings, Inc., a provider of hot-dip galvanizing and coating services, reported recently that the Kentucky Department of Labor had recently recognized the Louisville Plant with both the "Thoroughbred Safety and Health Award" and "S.H.A.R.P." (Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program) Status Award. The Awards were presented at the Governor's Health and Safety Conference by Teresa J. Hill, KY Secretary of Environmental & Public Protection Cabinet, and Phillip J. Anderson, KY Commissioner of Labor.

Mr. Thomas J. Cataldo, Louisville Plant Manager, said, "The awards are the result of a daily 'team' effort by all our employees to work safely. It's a cumulative result of sound corporate direction and financial support, site specific engineering evaluations, and most importantly, the willingness of our employees to adopt safety as a culture."

The "Thoroughbred Award" recognizes facilities for twenty-four months of continuous operation without a Lost Time Incident. The Louisville facility has been incident free since January 2005. The S.H.A.R.P. status recognizes facilities that have actively encouraged employee safety involvement, have lowered lost work day rates below the national average, have met established goals for improving the health and safety program, and have acted quickly to correct identified hazards in the workplace. This award grants an exemption from OSHA programmed compliance inspections for a period of two years.
